Honolulu is so fortunate to have Akihiko Izukura arriving in January. He is a world renowned textile artist whose work has been featured in installations and exhibits in England and on the Mainland, as well as in his native Japan. While here, Izukura will be teaching  Senshoku-Do workshops at the Academy Art Center at Linekona.

The Hawaii Handweavers’ Hui will present workshops by Jennifer Moore in Honolulu and Kailua, Kona on the Big Island in January. Moore is a renowned expert on doubleweave. Japanese textile artist Akihiko Izukura recently completed an installation of his hand-dyed silks in Kyoto. The installation, which was considered a practice run for his Honolulu exhibitions scheduled for January and February, 2012, gives us an idea of what we can look forward to next year.
