CHAI block print workshop

CHAI Studio in Ward Warehouse (at the far Diamond Head end) has always been committed to creatively salvaging and recycling things into hip new fashions for the home and body. Whether it’s a pendant from Afghanistan or a pillow from Jaipur, owner Amerjit Ghag knows how to make it work as something fresh, new and fashionable.

In this spirit, Amerjit and her talented staff invite you to a D.I.Y.  block print workshop this Sunday, July 13, from noon to 2 p.m.

Bring a T-shirt, jean shorts. hat, handbag, pillow cover or anything in need of a little sprucing up and CHAI will provide block print stamps and inks for you to play with. Cost is just $10.

CHAI explained that block prints originated in India during Mughal rule. They are designs carved from wood and dipped in colored ink. At the workshop, there will be at least 10 different blocks to choose from, each of which has been selected for attractive design and ease of printing.

This is an ideal opportunity for girlfriends to get together or a summer break play date for mothers and daughters. Drinks will be provided.
