Pagosa Deer Best

We stayed for a few days with Jerry’s cousin, Skip Prichard, and his girlfriend, Judy. They live part time in Pagosa Springs, Colorado, and part time in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

The view above is their front yard at twilight! The deer are so tame they come right up to feed. Aren’t they beautiful? We just sat in the swing on the porch and marveled at them.

Skip is a really interesting person. A big animal vet, he has limited his vet practice to horses and cattle since the ’80s.

A cowboy in the truest sense of the word, Skip is a famous roper. He has won numerous medals, as well as a truck, through his excellence in roping. Even at the age of 74, he is still roping at a national level. He’s the guy on the horse with the rope; he has a 28-year-old partner who wrestles down the bull.

Skip bought his home in Pagosa Springs about four years ago. It’s a lovely community and offers him the balance of wide open spaces and close-knit country community that he enjoys. Although Pagosa Springs is well known for its medicinal waters, we enjoyed just hanging out with Skip and Judy on their front porch….communing with the deer….
