One of Yamanuha’s takes on an iconic local brand.

Emerging artist Jared Yamanuha will be hanging his first solo show this week at In4mation, 1154 Nuuanu Avenue. It will be up through the month of November. It’s a must-see for First Friday.

The show, called “Omiyage,” features photographs of iconic Hawaii brands, such as Hawaiian Sun, Liliha Bakery, Leonard’s, Long’s and Hurricane Popcorn, which Yamanuha hand cuts with intricate patterns creating a sort of fantasy landscape.

Meet the artist and hear him talk about his work at the opening reception:

Tuesday, November 5

6 – 8 p.m.

It seems we need to put Yamanuha on our “one to watch” list. He will be featured in a group show in February, 2014, at the Museum of Craft and Design in San Francisco. The show is called “Obsessive and Reductive” and it’s curated by Marc D’Estout.

While you’re in the neighborhood, be sure to pop in to Florencia Arias’ boutique. It’s right across the street from In4mation. She has some new autumnal prints and colors that are so beautiful!
