Alphabet cuffs by Gurl with Toolz.

I love Roberta Oaks. I first covered her in The Honolulu Advertiser when she was a precursor of the whole Pop-Up Shop concept. She literally sold out of the back of her van or set up racks on North Shore beaches (yes, she was sometimes chased off the beaches due to lack of permits but she remained undaunted). She often sold every one of her re-purposed silk slips right there on the beach. Now she has her own lines of men’s and women’s wear, a store in Chinatown, is sold nationally and internationally, and is constantly coming up with new and original ideas and designs.

I think it was a year ago or so when she started her accessories line, Gurl with Toolz. She calls the concept Grease Monkey Glam . She scouted junkyards and old car burial grounds for her materials. Now she’s back with a new take on the line, these chic and cute mixed metal cuffs.

Every piece is handmade and one of a kind.  Note: Roberta will take special orders for particular letters but be sure to order early for the holidays. They are sold at Roberta Oaks, 19 N. Pauahi Street or email info@robertaoaks.com.
