It’s always exciting to see a really innovative accessory take off in the marketplace – especially when it’s designed by a local woman. That’s what’s happening with ETSIS, the uber sun protective hats with scarf-like panels created by Devra Wathen of Kahala.

ETSIS, which stands for Escaping the Sun in Style, came in a very close second in the QVC “Sprouts” program; so close, in fact, that QVC put both the winning product and an ETSIS hat (the EasyEscape style in black and white) up for sale on the QVC website.

ETSIS is also being recognized by retailers – big time. More than 78 stores across the U.S. and in Canada have picked up the line and Asia is just beginning to take off. In Hawaii, The Spa at The Kahala Hotel & Resort and their sister hotel, The Makena on Maui, are now offering ETSIS to their fashion- and wellness-savvy guests.

Both health and beauty media are also discovering ETSIS hats. They were featured on the Dr. Bob Martin Show, as well as in New Beauty Magazine. Next up: Oxygen Women’s Fitness magazine, whose editor approached ETSIS to do a story.

With summer fast approaching, isn’t it time you found yourself a stylish new sun protective ETSIS hat? There’s a great selection at Island Slipper and Elephant Walk stores. Or treat yourself and a friend (or your sister or mom) to a lovely afternoon tea at The Kahala Resort & Spa and then shop for your hats.
