For several years I have been consulting informally with my friend Chie Okada of Hawaii Kai on her clothing line. I love the line and find it ideal for travel, career and casual wear. Chie designs the prints and silhouettes and has the clothes made in Bali. They’re made of a lovely cotton that travels well. They can be mixed and matched with jeans, pants, skirts, T-shirts or crisp white shirts.

Now Chie and I are working with Mary Philpotts and her outstanding staff at Place, an atelier by Mary Philpotts. Mary loves Chie’s line as much a I do and we want to introduce it to our friends and fellow fashion folks. That’s the genesis of the event promoted in the flyer above.

We want you to come and play with us. Come  try on these fabulous, flattering clothes and let’s use Place as our playpen. We’ll pull all sorts of accessories – scarves, necklaces, bracelets, handbags, earrings, bangles – to enhance your new outfit. As you probably know, I have a passion for accessories (I’ve been called Honolulu’s “Accessories Queen”) and find it really fun to help accessorize others.

So please choose either the evening of May 9 or the morning of May 12, and join us for a fun and fashion-filled event.

Note: The model in the flyer is Marisa Kellett, a former cover girl for U magazine who is now a pharmacist (yes, beauty AND brains). Her photos were shot by Jerry Mayfield in our Japanese garden. The necklace I am wearing  is one-of-a-kind and was created for me by lovely Lynda Caris. Find her jewelry at Nohea Gallery and Macy’s. She is having a trunk show of her latest collection this Saturday at Macy’s from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
