Please join me on Friday night for a show of my latest paintings, titled “Spice” and “Herbs.” It’s at CHAI Studio at 675 Auahi Street.

The “Spice” paintings were inspired by some exotic curry spices Amerjit, owner of CHAI Studio, gave me. As I measured out the spices I was enthralled with their colors, textures and aromas. I took this photo:

From this inspiration came five large canvases: cardamom, chili, curry, turmeric and cumin.

Further inspiration came from our recently planted herb garden. I love picking and cooking with our very own rosemary, Greek oregano, mint, cilantro and basil. It is a feast for all the senses. Hence, four paintings of lovely fresh herbs.

And then there’s garlic. Garlic is the theme of Eat the Street this month so I had to try to capture the pungent flavor of garlic in a large canvas.

Please come and share an evening of wine and art on Friday. I would love to see you. Then head on over to Eat the Street and forage for fabulous food.
