We had the pleasure of attending Samadhi‘s E Lokahi (which means Come Together), a student showcase, last Monday. It was an opportunity for students of Andrea Torres and Nicole Young to show family and friends what they have learned in their  Aerial Tissu (French for silk) and Trapeze classes. It’s a sort of recital, really.

We were invited by Shar Bliss, my NIA teacher and a long-time friend whose progress toward an amazing level of fitness I have followed with interest (and not a little envy). Here is Shar on the tissu:

See why I’m envious?

The music, sound and lighting all added to the beauty and excitement of the event. Lights were by  KK, sound by Brett Fovargue.

The event was held at ArtZone, which has become a sort of home for Samadhi. It’s a beautiful venue for watching graceful men and women (yes, men do aerial tissu and trapeze too) dance through the air. It made me want to join them. My husband just shakes his head. I have a long history of shoulder problems (surgery aon the left shoulder and arthritis in both). But they say if you use your core strength and not your limbs, perhaps…..

Here are more photos by Jerry to give you a sense of what it was like to be there. They were in motion most of the time, hence a bit of blur.

You can see the joy in their faces.
