There are lots of Mother’s Day specials and sales at locally owned boutiques. Remember to shop local first!

Cottage by the Sea is offering 10 percent off everything, as well as a lovely lauhala box to make gift wrapping simple.

Cinnamon Girl, which is all about mother-daughter dressing, says if you spend $100 you’ll get a free gift.

Global Village, owned by a Kailua mother-daughter team, is also having a spring sale especially for moms.

Kealopiko is having a sale at the Farmer’s Market on Molokai but if you don’t happen to be on Molokai, you can go online at www.kealopiko.com for 10 percent off everything. Just use this coupon code: Mamas.

Tonight at First Friday is a great opportunity to shop for art and fashion for Mom. Jerry and I are featured artists at the Louis Pohl Gallery on Bethel Street. I will be there for a little while, but must go on to the Disfunkshion Relaunch party at Waikiki Edition to honor Hugette Montesinos, a woman I admire.

Roberta Oaks will be open until 10 p.m. for First Friday and she’s having a huge spring/summer sale. Buy one dress and get another for 40 percent off. Dresses from past collections are selling for $65 each or two for $100.

Also check out Super Citizen, Fighting Eel, Catherine’s Closet and B-Wareville while you’re in Chinatown.
