We had such a wonderful time at tea at Halekulani to celebrate my mother’s 90th birthday! It’s such a lovely way to unwind, with gracious service and fabulous food.  That’s my sister, Berta Cullen, the middle and my lovely mother on the right.

Halekulani treated Mother to their famous coconut cake.

My sister Berta makes all her own jewelry, and some of mine too. She sells it at The Contemporary Museum gift shop.

That's a dress by Angelina deAntonis of Ocelot in San Francisco.

Later we went to House Without a Key and our server, who was really on it, could not believe Mother was 90!

At House Without a Key

We have a long family history at Halekulani. My mother’s mother, Helen Jacobs, lived in the attic at Gray’s Hotel, which was a predecessor of the Halekulani and was located in the main building that now houses the tea room, Orchids and La Mer. Mrs. Gray sort of adopted Huddy (what we called my grandmother) back in the early 1920s. My parents went to blackout parties at Halekulani in the early 1940s and Jerry and I had our wedding reception in the Hau Terrace in 1988. We love that hotel!
