We have settled into a lovely, luxurious “schedule” on Paros. We arise for the sunrise, take a long walk, usually around the little roadways and down to the beach, then back home for breakfast of the best yogurt ever with honey we bought in the mountains near Meteora – directly from the beekeeper.
We go back to the house and read or play cards or we drive around a little to find new beaches, villages and farms. The house is surrounded by sheep and goats and a few cows. This morning the poor shepherd was having a problem with one of his flock. It was the loudest sound we have heard since we arrived – he was calling to his sheep. The quiet is so lovely!
We then have lunch in a little taverna somewhere. Yesterday it was the tiny port town of Piso Lavadi, with its colorful fishing boats lining the bay. The reds and blues against the turquoise Aegean are gorgeous.
We swim in the late afternoon in the clearest, most beautiful water I have ever swum in. Golden Beach is within walking distance and it’s such a no-brainer. Northern Europeans and Greeks from the mainland love this place. Since eating out is not my favorite thing, we usually have dinner at home. Cooking here is an adventure anyway. The supermarket is a trip when you don’t read Greek. Thought I was buying chicken but it’s pork. But it’s very good pork so who cares?
