That trench coat – a London Fog, no less – eventually ended up in the closet of Melissa White.

The Saturday Swap Party at The Hifi Coop was a fun afternoon and an ideal way to give away clothes. It was so much fun to style attractive women into some of my clothes. Toby Portner scored my Coton de Contonnieres gingham top and navy pants and she also my Christian Lacroix wedges. Maya Portner rocked my You-Be black harem pants. Melissa White looked fabulous in my London Fog trench coat. Amanda Stevens scored one of my Indonesian tunics with batik pockets and trim.

The racks and tables were full and we had to spill over onto the floor to accommodate all the clothing and accessories.

As for me, would you believe I walked off with a navy print Nordstrom blouse, Christian Dior clutch and teal pashmina – all of which were formerly my sister’s? Who knew I would find treasures from  Berta’s closet!

My sister, Roberta Cullen, does a little visual merchandising.

It was a real treat to see Suzanna Kuhlemann, who is visiting Honolulu for two months from her home in Germany. Suzanna’s line of swimwear,1-9-7-9, which she first introduced in Honolulu, is now taking off in Europe. I’m hoping she’ll find a shop or two to stock it in Hawaii. I’m lusting after her maillot called “Magdalena”! More on Suzanna in a future blog, as we plan to have coffee together in April.

I think it would be great if Hifi held a Swap Party every spring. It would help all the Hifi members clean out their closets, a daunting task that generally requires a push.
