What better way to dress up a bottle of wine than with a designer bag?

Long time fashion designer Tamar Hassing Wong , who I met when she was designing the women’s line for Tori Richard, has just introduced Happy Town Hawaii. Each design is simple and sophisticated and, well, happy-making!

Tamar has quite a fashion pedigree. She designed for Nordstrom’s Private Label, was a colorist for Eddie Bauer and later designed their menswear. She was a designer at Local Motion and Apparel Ventures, an L.A. firm that creates garments under a licensing agreement with the likes of Trina Turk.

Tamar left Tori Richard for the best of all reasons: Motherhood. However, as a stay-at-home mom she felt her creative urges becoming overpowering. Simultaneously, she recognized a need in her own life for a bag to dress up her gifts of wine and turn them into a special, more personal gift. Enter: Happy Town Hawaii.

Tamar and her adorable daughter, Elyse.

The wine bags are sold at So’Mace in Kikohana Square, Red Pineapple in Ward Centre, Iolani on Kona Street and Boutiki in Pearl Harbor. They retail for about $16 – $18. Or find them online at www.happytownhawaii.com.
