Katrina Fallas, manager of Splash! Hawaii Sport

Katrina Fallas can’t remember a time when she wasn’t hanging out in her father’s shop, Splash!, in Ala Moana Center. As a child she helped tag, as a teen she learned the ins and outs of customer service  and as an adult she managed the store.

Her target customer was the fashion-forward girl who loved the beach but not necessarily the water. Sure, she got in the pool or ocean and sometimes swam or surfed, but her bikinis were more fashion statements than practical, hard wearing suits.

Just in time for summer, recognizing a need to address the active, outdoor, athletic water woman, Dennis and Katrina Fallas have opened Splash! Hawaii Sport, adjacent to the original Splash! store on the street level of Ala Moana Center, makai side.

Active wear for the active woman.

The new store focuses on swimwear and active wear for surfing, paddling and swimming. Katrina is also making sure to stock all the accessories required for an active day in the water or on the beach: boardshorts, SPF rash guards, hats, sunglasses, beach bags and even some active wear for women who love volleyball, hiking and other outdoor sports.

The merch is a mix of local designers and national athletic brands such as Honey Girl, X-Cel, Volcom, Nike, Billabong, Roxy Sport and Splash! Hawaii’s own brand. One of my favorites, La Blanca, is also carried there.

Everything for the water woman.

Katrina wants to emphasize comfort and durability in styles for all body types. Customers can purchase mix and match separates, including those hard to find D and E cups.

The beach bags and beach hats are really colorful and cute. If you’re looking for a new suit for summer, Splash! Hawaii Sport is definitely a place to check out and try on.

Don't forget your hat for extra sun protection.
