There are some hui shows that I always try to get to. One of them is happening from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday at Waioli Tea Room in Manoa and I hope you’ll try to make it too. It’s called Take 5 and it features five fab Honolulu designers: Cora Yee, Candice Wakumoto, Wendy Kim Messier, Charlotte Jean Tanaka and Lynda Sakraida.

It’s hard to find unusual shirts for my husband. As an artist, he is not your Oxford button-down or Reyn’s aloha shirt type. I often score shirts for him from Wendy Kim Messier. She is constantly reinventing herself. She sometimes even hand paints her creations, making each a work of art.

Another reason to go to Take 5: Lynda said she is deeply discounting her Hadji Baba bags to make way for new inventory.

To get a sense of how fun and quirky these five women are, check out their video at:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHjv754KfYg
